Technologies developed in Scotland aimed at allowing individuals to lead safer, longer, happier lives in their own homes will soon be helping to transform the assisted living and aged care sectors in Australia.
Tom Morton, founder and chair of Glasgow-based Archangel Cloud, has embarked on a four-week trip to Perth, Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney to discuss collaborations and partnerships with a number of health and housing focused firms across Australia.
Archangel Cloud is a vendor-neutral middleware platform that acts as an operational command centre for organisations managing data from IoT sensors, smart devices and connected systems. It aggregates real-time data from multiple sources into a single intelligent view, enabling proactive decision-making across sectors including housing, health and social care, facilities management, lone worker safety and beyond.
Tom explained: “We have already built links with businesses in Australia that have expressed a keen interest in the adoption of IoT (internet of things) sensor-based technologies and complementary monitoring platforms such as those developed by Archangel.
“Our CEO David Rowan visited Australia last year to lay the foundations for my visit and my trip will be aimed at cementing these partnerships and create a number of focused projects that demonstrate the quantifiable benefits of proactive, predictive and ultimately preventive technologies.
“The issues affecting health, care and housing in Australia largely mirror UK concerns. Whilst the commissioning mechanism may be different in Australia, the issues created by fragmented data systems exist in both nations.
“Ultimately, both countries share the same priorities and that is to improve lives and allow individuals to live longer, safer lives within their own homes,” added Tom who will also be attending the Australian Healthcare Week (AHW) at Darling Harbour in Sydney (March 11-12).
“The AHW event is an opportunity to meet up and explore potential collaborations as well as discuss the UK experience of deploying sensors at scale,” concluded Tom.
